Your Bridal Bestie is the Bridal Buddy

Are you throwing on a dress and getting married soon? Do you have any plans to scale a fence and hike to your wedding destination? Thinking about climbing rock columns on a volcanic sand beach? Or even using bathroom at some point? Brides, non-brides, and anyone else who finds themselves wearing a dress from time to time: let me introduce you to my friend, the Bridal Buddy.

This is not a sponsored post, but it does contain Amazon Affiliate links. This is a celebration of someone finally cracking the code on wearing a dress without needing a team of people to help you use the bathroom. Hooray!

As a “Planner” by nature and someone who does not particularly love wearing dresses, I was determined to figure out how to easily wear a wedding dress in the Icelandic landscape. Along this thought journey, I wondered…

What about a dress with a shorter skirt?

Pro: very easy to get around

Con: very, very breezy

Well, nevermind. Could I find a belt or something to hold up the dress so I don’t trip over? How would I go about accomplishing that? Would it even work? No, no, no — scratch that. Too much work.

Enter: The Bridal Buddy. This simple and valuable tool was the answer to my problems.

What is it? It is an underskirt worn beneath the dress (and all of the dress’ whimsical layers, if it has them) that allows you to completely flip up and stow the dress in a bundle whenever you please.

Let’s discuss the key features:

1) A comfortable, concealable waistline

Since it is designed to go beneath a dress it is essential that it not add bumps, lumps, grooves or general disruptions to the outfit.

2) Arm holes

You read that right - this puppy has arm holes. Once you lift the bottom of the dress up into the Bridal Buddy beneath, you can hold the weight of the dress on your shoulders to free up your arms and liberate your legs!

3) Perhaps the most fun part - the drawstring

The drawstring enclosed in the hem of the Bridal Buddy allows the wearer to pull it closed around your shoulders. This makes it much easier to hold, helps contain a tulle-laden dress to more easily get around, and it helps you look like a Hershey’s Kiss with legs.

Helpful and hilarious - a perfect combination of characteristics I value.

In my wedding dress, wearing a Bridal Buddy beneath, I was able to:

  1. Climb over a fence

  2. Hike to a waterfall to elope at Kvernufoss

  3. Climb up basalt columns and rock formations at Reynisfjara

  4. Have one of the best days of my life

Not a bad deal, I’d say.
